Sheba was probably named after the Queen of Sheba, one of the more well-known stories featuring Solomon.

Yeah that was my other thought when I was thinking about it later. Whether the Queen of Sheba had any relations with King Solomon we can’t know for sure, but she sent him quite a few gifts and was more than impressed by his wisdom. It’d certainly fit with Sheba’s awe of Solomon lol

Anonymous I do not like my heroines to be weak. I’d rather have them kick butt and have a great personality to boot. It doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t want them to have good skills in cooking, etc but I don’t like the heroines to be doormats. There’s a huge difference between the whole culture aspect and the personality part. Culture does shape a person, but it does not define them 100%.

First.

THIS IS HOW YOU SAY YOU LIKE SOMETHING. THANK YOU ANON, SERIOUSLY THANK YOU! You’ve stated what you like and why you like it and what you dislike and why you don’t like it, all in a straightforward and polite way. For that I honestly thank you.

Second, a heroine that kicks butt and has an awesome personality as well is not only icing on a cake but every bite of that cake too. The deal with otoge and “weak heroines” is that the most of the time they’re intentionally made with less of a personality so that the game player can imagine things their own way or better relate.

For example, QuinRose’s Alicia has both tons of personality and the strength to strike down her opponents with her sword. However, she’s nearly impossible to replace because of that; she’s “too big” for there to be anyone else. For those like me who really like her she’s a wonderful treat and a great character, of course.

I think there’s also the tendency to want to avoid “perfection” with an otoge heroine when making a game, but more than that she has to make sense. If she’s going to be good at cooking and housework and schoolwork, she probably has spent a lot of time at home and couldn’t do much to fend for herself in a fight. If she’s got charisma and is a track star, she probably spends more time training and doing things with people than studying. Balance is needed.

But I still agree with you. Give me a heroine who can fend for herself at least when absolutely necessary and who can show a guy out the door, then clean up because SHE wants to!
